The International training company MTAC - Management Training & Consulting conducted a two day pro-bono training in project management for the team of For Our Children Foundation in Sofia. »

Alison Banks and Roger Greenland from Core Assets visited For Our Children to get to know personally the foster care work here and to have a feel of the effect of the support which the British company provides from almost a year under the common project with the Foundation. Their support gives to more Bulgarian children equal chance to grow up in secure family environment. »

This is the story of Marina and Dessy. Marina is the foster mother who started taking care of little Dessy in her home in September 2011. Although she is only 4 years of age, Dessy has already gone through trials and difficulties. Marina faced the challenge to foster a child who was separated from her birth family due to risk for her health and life and after that spent 10 months in institution. »

The Community Support Center in Plovdiv opened its doors to visitors and shared the positive results of its work on May 15, 2012 - the International Day of Families. Among the official guests of the event was George Tityukov, Deputy Mayor of Plovdiv. During the event, the Community Support Center awarded the winners of the competition for children’s drawings „My Idea of a Family". »

"So far during many years the work has been done in different directions, without specific focus. The state gives some money for foster care or places some children in homes and that's all. The Project in Plovdiv presents a new vision with a completely different approach. Impressive is the result for mothers and families at risk whose children could be potentially abandoned. After working with with the families, between 50 and 80 per cent of the children at risk remain with their parents and this success is outstanding", the president said. »

For Our children foundation will collaborate with the four Labor Offices in Sofia to promote the foster care as a form of labor occupation. The partnership between the Foundation and the Employment Agency, which is the responsible institution for the Labor Offices, was agreed in March. The purpose of the common efforts is to allow for more people who are not employed, but have a desire to help a child at risk, to face the challenge of the foster care profession and to benefit from the rights which the labor legislation provides for. »

Manager from the leading British fostering agency Core Assets celebrated his birthday for the Bulgarian foster children. Phil Smith, who manages the complaints and allegations in Core Assets, together with his foster brother Ernie decided to dedicate their 50th birthdays to the cause of For Our Children Foundation – more abandoned Bulgarian children to have foster families. »

The Community Support Center For Children and Parents of the For Our Children Foundation organizes a competition for children’s drawing and photograph on the topic “My idea of a family”. The competition is organized on the occasion of the International Day of the Family – the 15th of May, and aims to encourage children's creativity. »

Two-years old Polli said goodbye to her little friends and the team of the social home because she will be living with her new family. From this moment on she will be looked after by the foster carers Petya and Ivan Ivanovi. Although scared and confused in the beginning, little Polli willingly followed the foster mother after she was told that she would be taken to her new home. »
