The third edition of “Evening of Virtues” collected 50 500 leva for children with disabilities

For a third consecutive year “For Our Children” Foundation has organized the charity event “Evening of Virtues”. With desire to help to kids with severe disabilities at the event attended many famous Bulgarians as Ministers Tomislav Donchev, Lilliana Pavlova, Nona Karadgova, and Totu Mladenov, businessmen, partners and friends of the Foundation. The third edition of “Evening of the Virtues” collected 50 500 leva and with these donations in the capital will begin the construction of the Children`s House for kids with severe disabilities and abandoned new born babies.

The patron of this year’s event was Crystallina Georgieva. “In my work all over the world I am a witness of big tragedies. Unfortunately the children always suffer mostly. Therefore this is an honor for me to be a patron of this event and to participate in an initiative, which helps to our Bulgarian children.” – With these words the Bulgarian euro-commissar addressed to the guests in a special appeal, sent for the evening.


“We are gathered this year to support some “forgotten children”. You could not see them easily. These kids could not been photographed, because they are under a measure of protection. These children are children whose parents do not want or can not or because of any other reason do not care for them and left them in an institution. These are children with disabilities. With your support we will build a new home for them, where to have warmth, love and many dreams and hopes.” – said the Director of Foundation “For Our Children” Ivanka Shalapatova in a greeting to the guests of the evening.


During the charity auction all guests had opportunity to bid for more than 50 articles with collector’s value donated by popular and authoritative persons, engaged to the cause. Among the articles of the auction there were a fine Chinese porcelain set, a personal gift to the Minister of Regional Development Lilliana Pavlova, a doll hand-made from the writer and singer Vanja Shereva, the favorite backpack of Tomislav Donchev, by which he had conquered the mountain hills in Bulgaria, a fine cup from Viennese porcelain of Minister Nona Karadgova, paintings from some of the most famous painters Pavel Mitkov and Ivan Jahnadgiev and many others. The painting “Freedom” by Prof. Gredi Assa was the most expensive sold article for the amount of 3 500 leva. The bidding for the scenario of the most cash Bulgarian movie “Mission London” was extremely competed. It was donated by the producer of the movie and it was sold for the amount of 2 500 leva.

This year the event was led by Mira Dobreva and Drago Simeonov. The musical performances of Elitca Todorova, Vasil Petrov and the string quartet “Strings” as well as the dancing skills of “Dance Academy” definitely conduced to the pleasant atmosphere of the evening.


By the funds collected from the charity auction in the past two years, 19 children found new parents and other 171 staid to their families. More than 70 adopters and candidate adopters received a support from Foundation “For Our Children”and round 500 people declared their interest to the foster care on the phones and website of the Foundation.
