The Bulgarian euro-commissar Crystallina Georgieva visited the Children’s Center of Foundation “For Our Children” in Sofia, where she met with the team and the Board of the Foundation. The visit of the commissar Georgieva is on the occasion of the latest project of Foundation “For Our Children” for building Children’s House for abandoned new born babies and kids with sever disabilities in the capital. Mrs. Georgieva was a patron of the traditional charity event “Evening of the Virtues”, which was organized on the 17th of November, 2011. On the event was raised funds of 50 550 leva, which will be used to start the project.

The plans of the Foundation next year the house to be a fact and to give a chance for life in a family environment to abandoned children for whom could not find foster parents or adopters.

Crystallina Georgieva saluted the team of Foundation “For Our Children” for their efforts every child to have a family. “The children we see here are a joy for every mother and grand mother as me, because we see a care for children, who otherwise would be left in an institution. The opportunity to grow with their families is great.” – She said. The euro-commissar Crystallina Georgieva spoke with a mother, who has three children and two of them have already been with her and for the third child the Foundation has been working with the mother to take him. “I know it is hard for you every day to face the grief of parents who leave their children, but when you succeed to convince a mother not to leave her child, this day is a feast.” – Said euro-commissar Crystallina Georgieva to Ivanka Shalapatova – Director of Foundation “For Our Children”.

“I was especially glad when I was invited to be a patron of the “Evening of the Virtues” this year. In my work all over the world I see different tragedies – natural disasters and others. Unfortunately the children always suffer mostly. The given opportunity to be involved in the cause for our children is a great honor for me.” – shared commissar Georgieva.

“Creating a family environment for the children with disabilities is a big challenge for the team of Foundation “For Our Children”, but we believe that with the help and commitment of the whole society we can change the life of the abandoned children in Bulgaria. Your support is extremely valuable for us, because it confirms the importance of our cause and mission.” – With these words the Director of Foundation “For Our Children” expressed her faith in the success of the project and her gratitude to the support of the Bulgarian euro-commissar.

At the meeting Elka Nalbantova, who manages the social program of Foundation “For Our Children”, explained how the Children’s House has importance as a type of social service making the children more visible in the society and giving them a bigger opportunity to find a family. She explained that the project as well follows the vision of the Government, which provisions to the end of 2013 year the social homes for children with disabilities to be closed and replaced with family type centers. In the Children’s House each child will have an opportunity to grow and develop completely, surrounded with love, attention and personal care.

At the time of her visit commissar Georgieva also visited the Social home for babies, which is located on the floor over the Children’s Center of Foundation “For Our Children”.
