Pop singer Milenita made a video of her interpretation of the famous song by Bogdana Karadocheva and Stefan Dimitrov Let it be. In this way one of the most eccentric ladies of Bulgarian pop music supported the most recent campaign of the Foundation called „Let it be”. The initiative is aimed at motivating more people committed to the problems of abandoned children to make their own videos of this song.
"I am always so happy to learn that an abandoned child has found a family. And I can’t think of a more deserving cause. When I was a child, I believed that if every person gave one penny and all those pennies were then given to the poor and the abandoned, the world would be a better place to live in. I am sure many of you used to have similar thoughts. I believe that today’s kids also have these thoughts – my kids, your kids, and kids from social institutions. The good thing is that today this is more or less possible. And I just keep saying “If Only”!”, says Milenita.
Almost 300 people have already uploaded their videos on the campaign site. There you can see Milenita’s nice video with Eco, Martin Tashev, Milen Kukosharov and Rosen Vatev. You can choose your favorite video and vote for it. Ten best amateur signers participating in the campaign will perform in a joint formation with the pop singer Grafa and BG RADIO and will record their cover version of the song.
The campaign’s objective is to try and change Bulgarians’ attitude towards donating using non-traditional and non-aggressive approaches. Funds accumulated by the campaign will be used to support efforts to find foster parents for abandoned children and prevent sending newborns to social institutions. Through the message „When there are many of us, even a small contribution is a big step forward“ the Campaign aims to show that when many people donate small amounts on a regular basis, they provide invaluable support for the efforts of NGOs to change for the better the lives of thousands of families. Currently over 6,000 children are in social institutions, and 2,000 children up to 3 years of age are abandoned each year.
