Public demonstration on bathing and care for the newborn was made by the charming television courier and member of the Advisory Board of “For Our Children" Foundation Peyo Filipov, his wife Maria and Elena Vassileva from the school for parental skills "Ma-ma".

The eventn was attended by more than 30 couples expecting a baby. The lesson took place at Ariana Lake in the capital, where specialists in infant care gave the future parents practical advices on looking after a newborn.

During the event Peyo and his wife competed in fast and correct diaper change of the babies Georgi and Yasen. Changing the diaper of Georgi in less than a minute ensured the win of Maria. The greatest challenge came later when Peyo had to change the diaper of the sleeping one-month old Marty. Experienced father of two children coped brilliantly and changed the diaper without waking up the baby.

Elka Nalbantova – Development Director of “For Our Children" appealed to all parents to be caring and responsible for their children and to give them all their love which is the most important thing for every child’s development. "This demonstration is an expression of our role as specialists to encourage people to look for advices and support and to care for their babies in the best way” - said Elka Nalbantova. 

In Bulgaria every year more than 1000 mothers separated with their babies in the maternity wards. Statistics shows that for the first six months of this more than 1000 children from 0 to 3 years old were abandoned. For 6 months “For Our Children" Foundation has helped 78 newborns from Sofia and Plovdiv to remain with their mothers.
