„Тази Коледа чудесата правите Вие 6“ набра 50 000 лева в подкрепа на щастливото детство в семейство

By | News | No Comments

Its most dedicated virtues are the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in the city, Bulgarian families and their German colleagues and friends, DSV Road transport company with the leader for Bulgaria Mr. Yanislav Totev, thanks to which the children from CTA “St. Dimitar” received the presents.   We are grateful to our friends from Germany who, despite being away from Bulgaria, managed to give more than 60 children with a hard childhood a magical Christmas!       The partnership between the foundation and the Center for temporary accommodation “St. Dimitar” started at the beginning of this year. Children from Fusion Academy in support of their peers

By | News | No Comments

For many years one of the leading academies in the sphere of education and art, Fusion Academy and “For Our Children” foundation work together in the name of the right of every child to grow safe, loved, and happy. The team of Fusion Academy believes that there is no such thing as a talentless child but in order to spark that talent, we need to provide the child with opportunities to express themselves and to develop – an understanding, which we also share. They share that art is not fixed value. Art is an impact, a change for the better, love, family. To be an artist you have to be a human most of all. To carry kindness in you, to look for the beauty in the world, to recreate it, to give and gift it to the people. To be an artist, you have to be able to work in a group, to be tolerant, to feel your partner, to be synchronized with the ensemble. They create together and change people, who know their art.   This year, thanks to the support of Fusion Academy, the guests of our biggest charity event Art evening of the virtues 2018 left with a unique memory from the evening, namely – a work by the young artists from the academy. Their genuine interpretation of family and how important it is for all of us, helped the guests to feel the cause of the foundation even closer to them. But this is only a small part of the excessive kindness which the students of the academy do for the foundation and the children who need support. Thanks to them, companies, led by the creative energy of the children at the academy, helped the foundation with the funds of the Christmas cards sale which they handcrafted themselves.   Many are the shared occasions with Fusion Academy which stimulate the team of “For Our Children” foundation to continue to fight with aspiration and smile for one of the most important things in our society – the safe and happy childhood in a family. Another such occasion was the Christmas party at the academy where we talked to the good-doers about how they support us, how important it is to be kind, to volunteer, to share and help children and families not only around Christmas.   And at the end, we finished our meeting with a photo of all of us and the children themselves wanted to say “FAMILY” while we are together. Because for them, the family is the most important…

Children create “For Our Children”

By | News | No Comments

Today is a special day – on the one hand, a day of solidarity, and according to Bulgarian customs and traditions, is Ignazhden. This is why we are very glad that оn a day like this we crossed the threshold of “Azbuki” private school and we were guests of the little good-doers of 3A and 3B class. We met with them, their teachers and parents, to say a great thank you to the series of initiatives they organized together with their teachers and parents in support of the foster children, which “For Our Children” foundation takes care of. They were motivated by their own pure desire to make sure that these children will have toys just like theirs. They sincerely wished them to have a real family and “all be happy”!   After the sale of the charity books for the Bulgarian National Awakening Day the preparation of Christmas cakes for the school bazaar, the big amount of festive cards sold to their parents’ jobs, the children have a new purpose for their “virtues” classes. Already in the first days of the New Year, they will start making martenitsi to support children in foster families.   Other children also created for children on Christmas. The kids from the Little Steps Kindergarten, part of the Azbuki school complex, organized another initiative in support of “For Our Children” foundation. This time, in workshops, with enthusiasm and inspiration, they made cards, snowmen, and all sorts of creations that they offered at their pre-Christmas charity bazaar. With the funds, we will support the babies at our Children’s House.   There is no way the lively look and the sparks in the eyes of all these children will not impress you! Sparks we saw in the eyes of their teachers and parents, as well. We, from “For Our Children” foundation, will take care of bringing this flame to the eyes of the children in need that today rely on all of…

The National Council for Child Protection approved the new Strategy for the child

By | News | No Comments

At a meeting yesterday, the National Council for Child Protection approved the project of the new National strategy for the child 2019 – 2030. “For Our Children” foundation actively participated in the process of drafting the strategy and the Executive director Mrs. Ivanka Shalapatova presented the position of the foundation as well as of the National network for children at the meeting.   The strategy was developed as a result of a wide consultative process and it reflects a great part of the expressed opinions and suggestions, children’s opinions were also considered. Mrs. Shalapatova and the representatives of the other non-governmental organizations and state institutions congratulated the State Agency for Child Protection for the cooperation with a wide range of interested parties and the demonstrated high level of culture used in dialogues and hearing different opinions.   The strategic document has a long-term vision (12-year term), which gives an opportunity for realizing key reforms for guaranteeing children’s rights. A starting point is the child’s rights and as well as the analysis of the former National Strategy for the child 2008 – 2018 and the challenges of its execution. An innovative element is the approach based on life cycle, in which key measures are planned in accordance with the stages of child development from the beginning of the pregnancy to the age of 18. This allows the government to intervene at the exact moment the family needs their help. The focus always remains on the child.   In her speech, Mrs. Shalapatova stressed the extreme importance of the elements that should be at the heart of all future reforms. These include introducing an integrated approach, enhancing cross-sectoral co-operation, better information connectivity, policy impact assessment, the professionalization of staff and the workforce, especially in the social sphere. She highlighted the differences in staffing and remuneration levels of professionals in education, social protection, and healthcare systems and highlighted the risks such differences pose to one of the objectives of the strategy – integration.   Mrs. Shalapatova described the lack of a clear vision for its financial provision as a challenge to the achievement of the Strategy’s objectives, which was supported by other members of the NPAA. It is necessary to take into account the possibilities and plans of the national investment budget, the planned EU funds as well as the contribution of the investments of socially responsible companies, individuals and international organizations, said Mrs. Shalapatova. In her view, it is necessary to lay down measures to stimulate the participation of the corporate sector in the implementation of the Child Strategy and to plan activities to measure the efficiency of measures in the social, health and educational system and to achieve high results in accordance to the national resource.   A Roadmap for Implementing the Strategy for the Child will be drafted and adopted and will describe the ways to achieve the objectives, the tracking indicators, the implementation deadlines, the responsible institutions, and the necessary financial resources. It is also planned to develop three-year programs to implement the strategy, which will allow the operational planning of the measures and activities.   We are happy that there is a strategic direction in the National Strategy for the Child 2019-2023 “All rights for all children”. We expect the political will to respect the rights of all…

With a lot of excitement and smiles we welcomed the long-awaited Santa Claus and her helper Snow White to our celebrations at our Foster Care Center, Community Support Center “St. Sofia”, and Family Type Placement Center “Children’s House”. The white-bearded old man surprised the children with a big and heavy sack in which there was something for every nice child. Our Christmas celebrations turned into a real pleasure not only for the young, but for the old too, under the sounds of loved children’s Christmas songs to which children and all adults joyfully sang, danced, and entertained. The children also had many treats while they were unleashing their creative talent as painting drawings which our colleagues had prepared specially for them.   To eternalize the Christmas spirit, the happy children’s smiles, and the emotions from the wonderful surprises, we took a lot of fun photos with Santa Claus and Snow White.   We are thankful to the caring people from “Operation Teddy Bear” that they made this Christmas possible, magical, and full of presents for the children we work with. By | News | No Comments

The team of our Community Support Center “For Children and Parents” in the city of Plovdiv surprised the children, with whom it works, with a magical Christmas celebration. To make the holiday even more memorable, our helpers were animators from the “Hand” Theatre and, of course, Santa Claus and Snow White. For the children we prepared musical games and specially selected presents, they had a lot of fun and were excited by the meeting with the white-bearded old man whom some of them met for the first time. In addition, the children drew, danced, went through the snowstorm and collected beautiful snowflakes, sharing their most cherished desires.   The second celebration was specially organized for the children in foster care and again with the support of our friends from the “Hand” Theatre. The children and the foster parents had the opportunity to enjoy an interactive Christmas play “Christmas troubles”, which included entertaining games where the children learned more about the Bulgarian customs typical for Christmas and New Year. By | News | No Comments

The first “Annual awards for good practices in the field of social services” took place last night on the initiative of Sofia municipality. “For Our Children Foundation” received 5 awards, among which a first place for “Social partnership with business” for its collaboration with “Citibank – Bulgaria plc”.   Our partnership with the financial institution dates from the end of 2015 and since then it supports children, accommodated in foster families, providing 32% of the sum which the foundation invests in the “Foster care” service.   As a result of this support, from the beginning of 2018 until this moment, 48 children in foster families received bigger opportunities for complete development and socialization.   “It is hard to find partners in the corporate sector who will believe in foster care, especially in the way foster families are looked at nowadays. This is why I want to congratulate the whole team of the foundation for continuing to look for partners in the face of the corporate sector who will support the quality of life of children in foster care. The funds invested by the state are not enough and every child deserves a quality life despite the fact it experienced separation with its family. Foster care and every other social care deserve to receive the partnership of the corporate sector,” said Ivanka Shalapatova, executive director of “For Our Children” foundation, upon accepting the award.   The support of “Citibank – Bulgaria” is key to the development and high quality of foster care as it allows us to provide additional services for foster children and families. With their assistance, we provide a visit by a doctor for emergency accommodation, additional experts – psychologist, “Early Childhood Intervention” specialist, and for children with disabilities or development difficulties – rehabilitation, specialized therapy, and medication. We include foster children in various socializing activities – excursions to natural and historical attractions, visits to museums, sports facilities, and art workshops to develop their talents.   The employees of “Citibank – Bulgaria” also actively support our activity, engaging even their families and friends. In the framework of the annual “Global Community Day” volunteer initiative, over 40 employees their loved ones helped us refresh the fence of our social services centers and, on the occasion of the start of the school year, donated specialized developmental toys necessary for the work of our specialists with the foster children. Additionally, employees also make regular donations in the form of adapted milk and clothes. They are also our dear guests and supporters of important events and celebrations such as Children’s Day, Evening of the virtues, etc.   “We are proud of our partnership with “For Our Children” foundation and we are grateful for the opportunity to be part of their foster care mission in Bulgaria and to support them in their efforts to ensure every child has the right to grow happy and loved in a family”, said Galya Tomova, CSR coordinator at “Citibank – Bulgaria”.   The team of “Citibank – Bulgaria” is part of the life of “For Our Children” foundation. We believe that only with the support of genuine socially committed partners we will be able to achieve the social change that our country…
