Ellie After and the charity puppet theater

By | News | No Comments

The eighth edition of our Christmas campaign “You make miracles this Christmas” is adapting to the challenges of 2020, but still the campaign is uniting the traditional participants. Today we will tell the story of Ellie After, one of those traditional participants and her initiative for children and grownups.   Ellie is also adapting her ideas because of the situation and the lockdown. She gives all of us fresh and innovative ideas to play with our children. One of them and part of her support to the Foundation is her handmade puppet theatre.   What is your motivation to support again For Our Children Foundation a few weeks before Christmas? – The most valuable thing for society is the chance for every child to grow safe, healthy, and to develop their full potential. This will give us hope for living in the society we all dream of. For Our Children Foundation is taking care of the most vulnerable children at risk. What could be better than to be part of this care?     What is the source of your inspiration? What are the symbols of the cause-related puppet theatre? – The textile puppets are my favorites for many years. The first step is to imagine the future character, then I draw the puppet on paper and the next step is to start the experiments with fabric. My inspiration could be everywhere – some very colorful fabric or an inspiring story. The puppets can be part of a whole kit, so with them, you can create many fairytales with different characters and storylines. I hope that my puppet theater will support the child`s imagination during their play.     What do you want to wish to the children, who will enjoy their handmade home puppet theatre? – To them and to all the children I wish a lot of health, to be full of energy, to be creative and curious. I wish to create unforgettable moments to remember when they grow up.   Join now the campaign:…

By | News | No Comments

Over 85,000 BGN were raised by the largest charity event of For Our Children Foundation – Evening of Virtues, realized for the first time entirely online. On November 30th 2020, it was broadcasted live from a specially built stage in Sofia Event Center through the virtual platform MP-STUDIO.EVENTS. Over 100 guests united around the cause for the full development of children at an early age – from 0 to 7 years.   To support over 1,000 children and their families in 2021, the For Our Children Foundation aims to raise 150,000 BGN – more than half of them were donated during the event. The rest of the funds, the organizers hope to raise by the end of the year from individual and corporate donors empathetic to the cause.   The hosts of the event were the beloved Bulgarian artists – Elena Petrova and Kalin Vrachanski. From the very beginning, they appealed to all guests: “The eyes of the future look at us with hope. Let’s help it reach them!”. Teodosii Teodosiev appeared before the virtual audience to call all children “infinitely valuable seeds”, in the development of which we must invest, and the actors from the musical theater – Ilona Ivanova and Denko Prodanov captivated the guests with iconic duets in the spirit of the evening. One of the most famous dancers in Bulgaria, Remy Toin, joined the choreography and projection mapping specially developed for the occasion, expressing his gratitude for the warmth and care donated by the Foundation, which ensured him a happy childhood in a foster family.   Mrs. Ivanka Shalapatova, Executive Director of the For Our Children Foundation, presented the bold vision of the organization for the construction of the Early Childhood Development Complexes in Sofia and Plovdiv in 2021. She showed the results of the tremendous work of the organization only for the first 10 months of this year, namely – 2500 changed children’s destinies and the desire for this number to grow exponentially over the next 5 years.   “Your support encourage us to create a better future and give it to every child. All this is happening thanks to the membership in The Human Safety Net – an organization based on the faith that only person can help another person”, said Ms. Shalapatova.   During the event the guests had the opportunity to send their message for the future, which will be closed in a time capsule and reopened 5 years later. The traditional charity auction for unique objects and exciting experiences was held for the first time in a virtual environment by the one and only Igor Markovski. Among the interesting positions of the auction were a cultural experience at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Bulgaria, a 7-day sailing yacht trip around the Sporades Islands in Greece, an autographed guitar by the music group “The Foundation”, and a chair signed by all members of the team behind the organization of the event.   General sponsor of the evening was Dundee Precious Metals, general partners – Special Events Group, Sofia Event Center, MP-STUDIO and MP-STUDIO.EVENTS. Other sponsors included EOS Matrix, Interlogistics Holding Limited Sofia, Synevo Laboratories, Compass Invest, as well as several partners – The Smarts, J Point, Arlet Stars, and Metro Cash & Carry. Their support covered all organizational costs and provided the opportunity for 100% of the funds raised before and during the event to be directed to the cause in support of early childhood development.   Staring at the “Eyes to the Future”, the team of For Our Children Foundation believes that with the support of all of us, next year they can ensure a happy childhood for even more children! Digital transformation for Evening of Virtues – our biggest charity event

By | News | No Comments

The unpredictable 2020 and COVID-19 have led to many changes for everyone – both for international corporations and local businesses, as well as for the non-profit organizations. They made us restructure our work and daily lives, along with that of our children. In order to channel the process of change, both for our organization and for the community of donors supporting our cause, we at the For Our Children Foundation choose to adapt by quickly introducing new practices in our work and in organizing charity events.   We also did it for the Evening of Virtues – the event that has been bringing together the big family of supporters of the organization and its mission for 11 years. For the first time this year, the largest charity event of For Our Children Foundation will be held entirely online and thanks to the technological innovations, will bring the abstract future of fundraising events closer to all of us.   An exciting program, inspiring stories, the opportunity for interaction between participants and guests, boldly ignoring the distance, as well as the traditional charity auction, are just some of the elements that can be enjoyed directly from the comfort and safety of home.   We believe that this Evening of Virtues will prove that there are no physical limits to humanity, empathy, and kindness.   As every year, the entire amount raised from ticket sales and donations during the event will be invested in the cause dedicated to early childhood development. Our goal is to use the funds raised in 2021 to support at least 1,000 children and families. This is possible thanks to the partners of the Evening of Virtues, who invest their knowledge, skills, and services, including the Bulgarian company for visual effects MP-STUDIO.   Today we are talking to part of the MP-STUDIO’s team – Marin Petkov, Marin Dimitrov and Strahil Jordanov about their motivation to support the cause of For Our Children Foundation, about the digital invasion and how to use it to make the world a better place.   This year you have expanded your business. How was the idea behind MP-STUDIO.EVENTS born?   The beginning of the pandemic of COVID-19 in March had a rapid impact on the event industry and this did not go unnoticed by MP-STUDIO. Our team was fully booked until the end of 2020 and suddenly all the events and projects we had were postponed or abandoned altogether. This included a project that would have been a part of the world’s largest event in 2020. We knew this crisis would last long. Also, for the first time in years, we had a little more time for experiments and development. We had to do something and the only way our team could do it was to act. Thus was born the idea for MP-STUDIO.EVENTS. On the one hand out of need, on the other – out of enthusiasm and a bit of free time.     How did COVID-19 affect the event industry? The event industry has changed tremendously in just 10 months. We saw a rapid transition to virtual events. This is the solution that has been found as an alternative in a pandemic situation. But like everyone in the industry, we know that physical events will return in full force after the pandamic. However, the change that has taken place will remain permanent and online events will become a new niche. We have developed our platform for this niche, but also as a complementary element to live events – through a hybrid element. In this way we provide a new tool in the hands of event organizers, through which they can reach more people regardless of the capacity of the location.   How and why did you decide to support the first online Evening of Virtues? We decided to support the Evening of Virtues because we believe in the potential of every person. We recognized that this potential must begin to develop at an early age and the For Our Children Foundation has taken on this task. We believe that our small contribution can lead to positive results and we see it as an investment in the future, because one day one of these children may be part of our team.   Anyone who wants to be a guest of the Evening of Virtues and immerse themselves in an experience that will leave a lasting impression in his/her mind can do so by confirming their presence until 26.11.2020 at charity@detebg.org. Read more about the event on the event page.  …

The voluntary initiative TELUS Days of Giving 2020 extends a hand to 50 families in difficult situation with whom For Our Children Foundation works

By | News | No Comments

This November TELUS Days of giving – the voluntary initiative of TELUS International Europe, has been held for the seventh consecutive year, bringing together company employees, their families and friends.   Despite of the restrictive measures imposed by COVID-19 decease, more than 400 volunteers chose to devote time and efforts to six volunteer projects, fully adapting their activities to the established measures in time of an epidemiological situation.   We are proud that among the selected ones is the project of For Our Children Foundation to support 50 families with little children in Sofia and Plovdiv, who are in crisis due to the state of emergency and the measures against COVID-19, which requires from them daily difficult decisions, challenges their role as parents and makes it difficult for them to care for their children. Among them are large families, single parents, young mothers without support from their relatives, families who lost their jobs and income after March 2020.   25 employees of TELUS International Europe in Bulgaria chose to lend a hand to these families through our project to help them overcome the crisis situation and prevent child neglecting. The volunteers worked for two days in our Community support centers – on November 17 in Plovdiv and on November 18 in Sofia, where they unloaded and packed durable food products, adapted milk, baby food and diapers. All products were provided for the initiative by the company.   „I chose this volunteer project, because I believe that sometimes a little help at the right moment is needed to help a person to stand up and move on. When we unite out strength and energy with the professional expert support of the foundation, we can inspire confidence to the parents and to give chance of the children to grow peacefully in their families.“ – shared one of the participants in the initiative.   The product packages were carefully prepared and designed as gifts, with attention to every detail. As befits a gift, the volunteers left a message to the children and families in each of the packages.   During the initiative, with the help of our social workers, the first families met and talked to the volunteers, and the children enjoyed special attention. In the end, they left with basic products, but also with something very valuable – smiles on the faces and faith that they can cope, that there are people who support them so that they can give their children love and care, regardless of the circumstances.   We, the team of For Our Children Foundation, thank to the organizers and volunteers of TELUS International Europe in Bulgaria for the trust, the new friendships and the bridges between the people that we created together!…

The first online Evening of Virtues will be held on 29.11.2020!

By | News | No Comments

On November 29, 2020 (Sunday) from 20:00 the Foundation “For Our Children” organizes its biggest charity event of the year – the Evening of the Virtues. For the first time due to the imposed anti-epidemic measures, it will be held entirely online through the virtual events platform MP-Studio Events. The event will be broadcast live from a specially built stage in Sofia Event Center, and each guest will be able to enjoy the exciting program from the comfort of their home.   For 11 years, every autumn, the Evening of Virtues brings together over 400 socially engaged leaders and visionaries in our society – representatives of socially responsible business, the non-governmental sector and cultural and social life, for whom children are the most valuable capital.   And this year the cause of the Evening of Virtues is early childhood development. We believe that in addition to the security of the family, intensive stimulation, thanks to which the youngest learn about the world around them and develop their potential, is a key prerequisite for their success in society, in education and employment in the future. Our goal is to use the funds raised by the event next year to support at least 1,000 children and their families to develop fully in early childhood – the age of 0 to 7 years. In the Early Childhood Development Centers in Sofia and Plovdiv, the foundation’s specialists – social workers, psychologists, rehabilitators, and family therapists will support children with developmental difficulties, children at risk of abandonment, children at risk of dropping out of the education system, living in poverty and isolation.   The theme of this year’s Evening of Virtues “Eyes of the Future” will immerse guests in an interactive story about the dreams of the organization in the coming years – the new vision of the future and the philosophy that only people can help other people. Ms. Ivanka Shalapatova, Executive Director of the For Our Children Foundation, will also present the idea of the new network of investors in early childhood development, which will be launched in 2021 in partnership with the international organization The Human Safety Net.   The hosts of the event will be the famous Bulgarian actors Elena Petrova and Kalin Vrachanski, and the traditional charity bidding, which will be realized in a new way in a virtual environment, will again be in the masterful hands of Igor Markovski.   In support of investments in early childhood development and their importance for the development of the full potential of children at a later age, guests will hear the voice of the golden teacher of Bulgaria, Mr. Theodosius Theodosiev-Theo. One of the most famous dancers in Bulgaria, Remi Toin, will take part in the evening with a choreography specially developed for the event, and the actors from the Musical Theater Ilona Ivanova and Denko Prodanov will present a musical gift for the guests with a performance of two emblematic duets from popular musicals.   Tickets for the event are worth BGN 150 and can be purchased online through the foundation’s website or by bank transfer. For confirmation or additional information: charity@detebg.org.   You can learn more about the event here. For Our Children Foundation thanks the sponsors and partners of the event – Dundee Precious Metals, Special Events Group, Sofia Event Center, MP-Studio and MP Studio Events, EOS Matrix, Interlogistics Holding Limited Sofia, Sinevo, The Smarts, J Point, and Arlet Stars. Their support provides all organizational costs and provides the opportunity for 100% of the funds raised before and during the Evening of Virtues to be directed to the cause in support of early childhood development.   Last year, thanks to the nearly BGN 170,000 raised during the Evening of Virtues 2019, the foundation supported over 1,000 children and…

Postbank Business Run 2020 in support of For Our Children Foundation again

By | News | No Comments

4 620 BGN – this is the amount with which the biggest team building in Bulgaria Postbank Business Run 2020 stood again behind our cause again – family support and prevention of abandonment. For Our Children Foundation is among the causes of the event for the fourth time.     On October 18, 2020 on the territory of the Business Park Sofia over 800 participants from 70 companies, gathered in 183 teams, took part in the eighth edition of the charity relay race, organized by Begach Running Club and Postbank. For all of them, the satisfaction from sports, from the shared time with colleagues and friends, from the common goals and achievements was complemented by the opportunity to contribute to the development of children who have a difficult destiny.   In this year’s edition, the organizers donated 30% of the participation fees for the event to two beneficiaries: For Our Children Foundation and Waterway Foundation, which provide support to children from risk groups so that they can grow up as independent adults and get a chance to have a full life.   “Since 2012, Begach Running Club has been connecting charity and sports. We are glad that we can help people in need through something pleasant – namely movement and running” – shared with us Elenko Elenkov – one of the founders of Begach Running Club and organizer of many marathons.   With the donated amount the experts of For Our Children Foundation will provide psychological, social, and material support to children and families who are going through a crisis situation and need someone to give a hand to overcome the crisis, to take care of their children, and not to abandon them. The donation will enable us to provide rehabilitation and specialized therapy for children with disabilities and developmental difficulties and to encourage their families in the efforts they make for every small step forward in the development of their children.   We thank the organizers of the Begach Running Club for once again giving their vote of confidence to us and showing their empathy at a time when only true friendships resist, cemented by common values and dreams.   We also express our gratitude to all the participants in Postbank Business Run 2020, who showed that together they can play sports, have fun and do good, united by a common cause….

The donors of the equipment for the sensory room visited the Center for Early Child Development in Sofia

By | News | No Comments

On 22.10.2020 in the Foundation “For Our Children” had special guests – representatives of the donors, thanks to which the equipment in our sensory room is completely renovated and in it, our specialists give a chance to children with disabilities and developmental problems every day to do their small steps on the path of their growth.   The room is part of our Early Childhood Development Center in Sofia. For its renewal, we were helped by the Association of Family Business – Bulgaria (FBN-Bulgaria Next Generation), AbbVie Bulgaria, and Deloitte Bulgaria.   The sensory room is an extremely valuable element of the Center, as we work with children in need, who we support through all our services included in it – the two Centers for Public Support, the Center for Foster Care, the Children’s House, and the Day Center.   It is no coincidence that we call the sensory room “The Magic Room” – in it, young children with developmental disabilities or disabilities receive specialized support from our specialists to stimulate the development of their sensory systems, motor activity, cognitive processes, interaction, and communication and to develop its full potential. The room is useful for all children, but we mainly work with children with hyperactivity and attention deficit, autism, mental retardation, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, anxiety, and stress.   Raya Tsvetanova – Senior Specialist in Early Childhood Intervention, welcomed the guests from Deloitte and FBN-Bulgaria Next Generation and introduced them to the wonderful world of the room, showing them how the equipment works and how it affects children. Multisensory devices generate various light effects, colors and moving shapes, mimic the soothing effect of water, give a feeling of vibration on the body. Through the balls and additional materials, children are given the opportunity to touch a variety of fabrics and textures that bring different sensations when touched. The box with fine sand – a natural material, provokes initiative, and creativity in the child. Sets with shapes and numbers glow in bright colors in UV light and improve cognition. The room also uses a musical background to emphasize and complement the purpose of the activity with certain sounds and melodies according to the needs of the child.   Our guests were also interested in the water tower with constantly changing colors, moving bubbles and colored fish in it, the spotlight for relaxation and concentration with oil filters in different gradient colors, the wall panel for drawing and writing with UV light through a special flashlight pen.   Raya shared her impressions of the activities with the children, adapted to their individual needs. In the sensory room, they engage and develop their senses, learn to interact with the world around them, but in a safe environment that builds their confidence and abilities. As they explore the space, parents and professionals can see what the child likes or dislikes, what calms or stimulates them. Lights, colors, sounds. Magic happens in this room. In the “Water Tower” the swimming fish creates a cheerful mood, blue light has a calming and relaxing effect, and the cosmic landscape of the spotlight can transport you to the wonderful world of imagination – a world in which young visitors to the “Magic Room” are immersed in.   The long road that needs to be taken really requires small but persistent steps taken together – a process in which FBN-Bulgaria will continue to be a loyal partner involved in the cause of the Foundation “For Our Children” – said lawyer Viktor Gugushev and Dimitar Dimitrov, FBN-Bulgaria Next Generation and Tanya Kirova – Executive Director, FBN-Bulgaria.   Their impressions were shared by the guests from Deloitte Bulgaria: “It is extremely satisfying to see that the funds donated by Deloitte employees in Bulgaria last Christmas contributed to the sensory room for working with children with disabilities become a reality – despite the challenges we all faced with the coronavirus. We appreciate Raya Tsvetanova for telling us about the small-big miracles that children experience in the room and for the progress they achieve in it step by step. Because that’s the point. We also would like to express our gratitude to For Our Children Foundation for once again giving us the opportunity to be part of the happy stories it creates. ”said Desislava Kirkova, Clients and Markets Manager, Deloitte Bulgaria.   “Thanks to you, we have the opportunity to work with modern equipment and see how children who need support are more confident, freer to communicate and open their senses to the world.” Raya Tsvetanova replied to the donors. “Miracles only happen when we are united – professionals, parents and donors. For one, the miracle may be to climb Botev Peak, for another – to win a Mathematical Olympiad, and for a third – to learn to tie his shoes or hold a spoon. We are grateful that together we make miracles possible in the lives of dozens of children with disabilities. ”   It is extremely satisfying for the entire team of the foundation to know that there are people who see the meaning of our work, appreciate it and support it unreservedly.   Thank you,…

By | News | No Comments

The Vice Executive Director of the Social Assistance Agency, Ana Ananieva, and the Vice Mayor for Social Activities of Plovdiv Municipality, Anesti Timchev, visited the Early Childhood Development Center, which was established by the For Our Children Foundation in Plovdiv. The two were welcomed by the Executive Director of the foundation, Dr. Ivanka Shalapatova, and checked how the construction activities, started on October 5 in the former children’s home “Rada Kirkovich”, where the complex will be located, are going.   It is being built by the For Our Children Foundation, with the help of like-minded people and donors, and with the support of the Plovdiv Municipality, and will soon become a modern center for comprehensive support for young children and their families. At the moment, the flooring is being replaced on both floors, as well as the window frames and the spaces are being completely redone.   “Many companies have committed themselves and are helping to build the center. The business responds and we receive serious support from donors, with which we will turn the complex into a friendly place and we will develop a good service.” commented Dr. Shalapatova.   “With joint efforts, the former orphanage will become a complex center for the development of social attitudes towards certain groups. Here we will give the right to Plovdiv’s Universities to present the future activity to those who want to work in the social sphere and we will invite external specialists who will help us to improve the service and work with children and families.” said Anesti Timchev.   After the reconstruction of the floors in the center, the first in Bulgaria Museum of Institutional Care will be opened, which will tell the story of the center and the deinstitutionalization in Bulgaria.   For Our Children Foundation has been working in Plovdiv for 10 years through its Center for Public Support “For Children and Parents.” In 2018, in recognition of its contribution to the development of social services in the city, the Foundation received the right from Plovdiv Municipality to turn two floors of the building into an Early Childhood Development Center, where children and families can receive timely support from specialists – social workers, psychologists, rehabilitators and speech…
