By | News, Без категория | No Comments

First miracle makers are now proving that the motivation for making good deeds is stronger than the challenges 2020 brought us. The 8th edition of “This Christmas You make the Miracles” again united its traditional participants as well as new ones and together they help us to support families and children we work with.   So far 13 companies are participating in our campaign chosen one of the 12 Christmas initiatives – 4 of them suitable for employees working from home. “Our support is an expression of international solidarity from all employees at Volkswagen and Porsche Holding. Being part of an international company we realize our social responsibility and we are supporting local organizations that stand for children’s rights. For us, it is an honor to help the Foundation in its mission of providing social support, development, and happy childhood to the youngest and most vulnerable members of our society. We sincerely hope that this year we will be again a part of the Christmas miracle and again will light lights in children’s eyes. From the bottom of our hearts, we wish great success to the foundation in its effort to give much warmer and cozy Christmas holidays to children. “   We thank Porsche Sofia East who is one of the longest-serving participants in our campaign “This Christmas You make the Miracles” with their charity bazaar that this year will be held differently. One of the new participants in the Christmas campaign is Coface Bulgaria. Read about their motivation to support us:   “We from Coface Bulgaria are happy to be a part of this special campaign and we wish for all vulnerable groups to feel calm, protected, and above all, happy in the new year. Ellie After and the charity puppet theater

By | News | No Comments

The eighth edition of our Christmas campaign “You make miracles this Christmas” is adapting to the challenges of 2020, but still the campaign is uniting the traditional participants. Today we will tell the story of Ellie After, one of those traditional participants and her initiative for children and grownups.   Ellie is also adapting her ideas because of the situation and the lockdown. She gives all of us fresh and innovative ideas to play with our children. One of them and part of her support to the Foundation is her handmade puppet theatre.   What is your motivation to support again For Our Children Foundation a few weeks before Christmas? – The most valuable thing for society is the chance for every child to grow safe, healthy, and to develop their full potential. This will give us hope for living in the society we all dream of. For Our Children Foundation is taking care of the most vulnerable children at risk. What could be better than to be part of this care?     What is the source of your inspiration? What are the symbols of the cause-related puppet theatre? – The textile puppets are my favorites for many years. The first step is to imagine the future character, then I draw the puppet on paper and the next step is to start the experiments with fabric. My inspiration could be everywhere – some very colorful fabric or an inspiring story. The puppets can be part of a whole kit, so with them, you can create many fairytales with different characters and storylines. I hope that my puppet theater will support the child`s imagination during their play.     What do you want to wish to the children, who will enjoy their handmade home puppet theatre? – To them and to all the children I wish a lot of health, to be full of energy, to be creative and curious. I wish to create unforgettable moments to remember when they grow up.   Join now the campaign:…

The initiative is part of the ongoing support started in the summer of 2020, in which DEVIN EAD ensures the monthly drinking needs of clean, safe, untouched by human hand water from the heart of the Rhodopes for children and families with whom the entire team of the foundation works.   „The partnership with DEVIN spring water is a significant step that gives stability of our foundation to cover an important necessity – ensuring our centers with naturally clean water suitable for the children that are in the focus of our cares. In our Centers for community support in Sofia and Plovdiv every day we provide free of charge consultations and psychological support to children and families at risk, activities for children with difficulties and developmental problems, training courses for candidate adoptive parents. The Foster care center is the place where we organize groups for support and training of foster parents and socializing activities for children in foster families. And in our Children’s house, professional babysitters take care of children up to 7 years of age around the clock until they are adopted, placed in foster families, or returned to their biological parents.” – shared the executive director of For Our Children Foundation – Ivanka Shalapatova.     The charity initiative is in line with the new communication campaign Mission “The Hero in Us” of DEVIN spring water, which encourages people to find out the hero in themselves and the people around them every day. Happy Stories

Another wonderful story from the Children’s House

By | Blog | No Comments

The magic in our Children’s House continues!   Today we wrote another wonderful story – another little boy found his family, and with this we proved that there are no impossible things in this world when there is great love, hard work and good care!   Now we will immerse you in the path that this little one took to find his happiness! Marty came to us a year ago when he was only three months old –  motionless, without physical activity, with a wandering, gloomy look. We knew that something was wrong and immediately initiated consultations with doctors starting with the children’s general pediatrician Dr. Stancheva.   On her recommendation, we did a number of tests that showed slight deviations in Marty’s motor activity and the need for rehabilitation. We started immediately – organized three physiotherapy procedures at the Hospital for the Treatment of Cerebral Palsy “St. Sophia”, electrical stimulation of the legs and spine and medical rehabilitation, each for 10 days.   We learned by watching the procedures so the team in Children’s house could continued to do stimulating exercises and games with the child. Marty progressed very quickly, becoming more lively and dynamic with each passing day, curious about everything around him.   He became a wonderfully healthy and smiling child, with eyes shining with love. Very smart and curious, our little researcher carefully started to examine each toy with undisguised curiosity, to enjoy and play with all the other children as they became a stimulus for his development. Despite the huge lag in his development when Marty came to us a year ago, the miracle happened! About ten days ago Marty made his first step and immediately started walking! He also said the sweetest words in the world – mom and dad.   The good fairy fulfilled this little boy’s dream and sent him a real mom and dad, who loved him from the first moment they spent together and could not wait for the next day to visit! Finally, the most wonderful day has come – Marty left the Children’s House to go to his real home with his mom and dad! We believe that he will boldly and confidently continue his happy journey through life surrounded by the love and care of his adoptive family.   We all cried but with happy tears and joy because this child was a great challenge through which we proved that good care and great love have the power to heal not only the emotional but also the physical pain in a child!   We wish him to walk more and more confidently towards happiness, and miracles to continue to accompany his life! We love you, Marty!   Snezhanka Atanasova, caregiver at the Children’s…

Foster Care made possible one more child’s dream to come true – to grow up happily in a loving home

By | Blog, Без категория | No Comments

One more child from our Forster Care Center found his new mom and dad. The 3 year old, Valentin, held tightly onto the hands of his new parents and embarked on his new life journey. Before the adoption, he was taken care by his foster mother, Dimitrinka Georgieva. She gave him her warmth and love, which worked miracles for him to overcome his abandonment in an institution, where he lived for the first one and a half year of his life.   Here is their story of our social worker’ point of view, Diana Petrova: “In November 2018, Dimitrinka took under her wings a scared sad boy, whose head was deformed from laying down, and feet – soft and crooked. The boy didn’t talk or walk. He ate only mashed puree food and had no teeth. After more than 18 months, locked under the walls of the institution, he went outside for the first time together with his foster mom. And he was afraid from people.   Dimitrinka, a true mother at hearth and a loving woman, has already helped with fostering three other children prior to their adoptions. When she came to take Valyo, she gave him a hug like he never received before and a basket full of toys – only for him. Together with our Foundation, Dimitrinka slowly started helping the boy to catch up with his development. She tough him to walk, eat, speak and love, again.   Valyo slowly started to relax and took his first steps, surrounded with a lot of love, patience and faith. He started feeling calmer and was encouraged to explore the world around, discovered the beauty of the nature, became friends with the family pet – a German Shepard called Harry, and learned many other unfamiliar to him things before. Slowly, he started speaking, and his first words were “mom”, “dad”, and “bow”. For half a year, in Dimitrinka’s family, the child caught up with his peers. He started going to kindergarten, made friends and blossomed. He turned into a happy charming boy, full of energy.   Then, Mariya showed up – the moment of destiny he has been waiting for. Mariya fell in love with Valyo from first sight and had no doubt that he was the child for her. Thus, they started their “get to know each other” meetings, where in the course of a month and a half, they spend time together each week in our foundation facility, another children playgrounds and city parks. They played together, went on walks and became closer each day. Mariya told him about her pet, her family and his future home.   During all this time, Dimitrinka was next to Valentin, to prepare him carefully for the change and reassure him that he can always count on her. She created a colorful album with some unforgettable moments they shared together, prepared his small suitcase, filled with his favorite clothes and toys, including the so loved teddy bear. She sent him to his new home, wishing him to grow up happy and strong, surrounded by the love of his new parents. Today, they often call Dimitrinka to share how Valyo is feeling, to talk about his progress or to exchange information and advice. Valyo is happy – his dream has now come true, having his own truly loving and caring family.”   “We went through very difficult times. Valentin was a sad and scared child that transformed completely. He is now smiling, a happy and playful young boy, who socializes freely and reflects the love and attention we gave him. I will miss him, but I am glad that he now has his real parents. I hope he grows up happy and loved.” shared Dimitrinka, who is one of the 25 foster moms, supported by our foundation. Once a foster parent, forever an angel

By | Blog | No Comments

Tsvetana and Angel are foster parents since 2016, after undergoing a successful education program in “For our children” Foundation. Just prior to Christmas, they welcomed home their first foster child, Kaloyan – a charming boy, thirsty for the love, which Tsveta and Angel have in bulk. Two years later, they adopted Kaloyan and he became forever part of their family.   Tsvetana and Angel continue their mission to give love to children who lack family warmth and environment, while they find their real home. Thus, in the end of 2018, the one-year-old, Silviya, entered their family – weak, visibly malnourished and neglected, with burn scars on her body, without even one of the mandatory health immunizations for a child her age.   Thus, the young family embarked on a tough journey of recovery for the little girl, hopeful to erase the scars left in her soul and to catch up with and stimulate further her healthy development. Their first step was to assign her to a general practitioner, who would perform all the missing immunizations. Not long after, Silviya started to smile more often, returned her appetite and started gaining weight. These positive results motivated further Tsveta and Angel to continue with their efforts and care for the little girl’s health, development, and socialization. They praise her for every little effort or new learning. With each day passing, she becomes more independent – she picks up her clothes, dresses up, sorts her toys and eats independently. She also established a close connection with the family pets, playing with the dog and feeding the parrot. She likes music and dancing, enjoys being praised, and, as every child, loves the hugs from her foster parents and brother.   Together with the support from our foundation, Tsveta and Angel organize walks in nature, trips and children events, which turns Silviya into a curious, friendly, and happy little girl. A girl, who awaits her loving mother and father, so she too could grow up in the warmth and safety of a loving family.   “There is nothing more important for us than to support this little girl in the process of developing the necessary abilities, which would lead her into living an independent life of a successful adult. We truly believe that foster care is a cause, which gives children the opportunity to experience a family environment full of love and understanding, until they find their real home.”                                                                                                                                    Tsvetana and Angel…
