At least 140 babies at risk and little children supported by “For our children” foundation will spend more dry and calm nights due to the donated 28 125 diapers Pampers. The diapers were gathered in a special campaign realized in partnership between Pampers Bulgaria and Kaufland Bulgaria in the period between the 7th of October and the 3rd of November 2019. Within the campaign with every package of Pampers Active Baby bought in Kaufland one diaper was donated to “For our children” foundation.

The generous donation will ensure the diaper needs for one year for at least 8 babies in the foundation`s Children`s house in which a team of devoted babysitters who secure a round-the-clock care for children separated from their parents. Children`s house is created in 2011 as an alternative of social institutions for babies. It is a cozy home in which temporary babies and little children who are separated from their parents are placed. In the Children`s house they remain between 6 and 18 months, until being adopted, placed in a foster family or returned to their parents. From its creation up to today Children`s house has changed the destinies of over 40 children, who today grow happy and loved in their families.

Despite the babies in the Children`s House diapers Pampers will receive at least 100 families with which the community support centers work with in Sofia and Plovdiv. The centers work with 6 of the biggest maternity wards in the two cities in which highly qualified social workers consult and support mothers who are at risk of abandoning their newborns. The specialists from the foundation offer a palette of social, psychological and material help, which is aiming for the child to remain in its birth family when this is in its best interest.  According to data of NSI every child in Bulgaria lives in risk of poverty when often poverty is in concentrated in families of single parents or large families. Such families are supported by the so called newborn package which has all that is necessary for raising a child during the first months of his life including the necessary diapers. The work with such families isn`t a single time one but lasts from 6 to 12 months or until we are certain they no longer need our help.

“Only for the first 9 months of 2019 we rescued 27 babies from abandoning. The extra material help which is provided for free together with active social work of our specialists gives confidence to the parents that despite the difficulties and challenges with our support they can manage with the care for their children. We are grateful to Pampers and their clients that they stepped behind our cause and donated hope to hundreds of children and families at risk” said Dilyana Maneva Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at the “For our children” foundation.

“For our children” foundation is a Bulgarian non-governmental organization which for 27 years works in Bulgaria led by its mission to secure development and happy childhood to the most vulnerable children in the country. Provides a wide palette of social services for children and families at risk, children with disabilities and difficulties in the development in the  two biggest cities in the country – Sofia and Plovdiv by focusing on the most fragile age – the first 7 years.
